Weekly Recap – April 25th, 2014 – Overwhelmed but Kicking

Mea culpa for the missed entry last week. I didn’t have much to say. Not that I have much to say today, but I figured I should check in.

Getting ready for crunch time in the office. Beginning in May, I will be working almost every weekend and a lot of extra hours for a couple of months. Somebody, somewhere above me thinks more is always better than less, so why not take on multiple large and complex projects at the same time?

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful. There are a lot of folks out there who wouldn’t mind being overloaded if it meant they could live more comfortably or even just get by.

On the baby front, mama and him (did I mention he’s a him?) are doing great. We received good news from the doc yesterday that mom will likely be off modified bed rest within 2-4 weeks. Also, our boy is a little over 1.5 pounds at this point and if his keeping mom up at night is any indication, we’re dealing with a future Karate Kid. Maybe a Pelé. Or maybe he’ll lead the future with some soccer-karate hybrid sport. I’d watch that. (Apparently someone had the same idea.)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I’d watch that too! Great to hear things are going well on the baby front. With you on the day job stuff. Very conflicting to feel both grateful and resentful at the same time (although it’s good practice for being a parent ;-)). Head down and soldier on. You’ve got a lot to look forward to. Laters.

  2. So glad things are going better with the pregnancy. Congrats on learning it’s a boy!! Good luck with your increased work load. At least it sounds like it will be before the baby’s born.

  3. Aw, a little Phillip…congratulations! I’m happy to hear that both your wife and Little P are doing well.
Your little clips crack me up! Happy Friday!

  4. Hi Phillip, sorry to hear you’re overwhelmed at the office, but it seems to be the theme everywhere nowadays. But you’re right, those of us who are gainfully employed are lucky to have a paycheck rolling in. I don’t believe you’ve mentioned baby’s gender before, so congratulations!

Have a good weekend. Love the gif, by the way.

  5. Really good news on the baby and mom. Will still keep the prayers going though.

  6. How wonderful! A mini-Phillip 🙂 I am very happy for you and your wife, but I also sympathize with your work load. Yes, it’s better to be gainfully employed, but I’m sure you’d be happy to share the work load 😉

    1. Thank you Marie! Can’t do much about the old Catch-22 I suppose, but in the end, I suppose it’s better to be over-employed than under-employed! 🙂

      1. Yup, that’s what I (try to) tell myself every morning as I drive to the office 😉

  7. Ha ha! I was just about to suggest Shaolin Soccer when you mentioned the soccer hybrid sport. It’s hilarious!!! I watched it again last week.
Have you got names picked out already?

    1. Looks like I need to add that one to the Netflix queue! And yes, we do have a first name, but still working on a middle name. I will reveal both in good time. 😀 😀
