Weekly Recap – January 16th, 2015

Monkey with a Monkey
A happy little monkey playing with a happy little monkey!

Health-wise, it’s been a trying week. The weather has kicked up the allergies. My wife has been fighting an infection and I’ve been fighting sinus headaches. D’oh. I told Angus he’s going to have to take care of us, but he doesn’t seem to keen on the idea.

Still, I’m going to toot my own horn here and proclaim that I’ve been sticking with one of my new daily goals: keeping a journal. At the end of each day, I make sure to take at least 10 minutes to document my day (as much as memory permits), fun things about Angus, and any weird notion running through my mind. It’s been very cathartic, and even those couple of nights where I was told myself I was too tired or the headache was in full effect, I forced myself to put something down. Of course I felt good afterwards for sticking with it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

-Phillip

  1. Aw…what a sweet picture, Phillip! He just makes me smile. Sorry to hear about your sinus headaches; I’ve been suffering with the same. Even my teeth hurt from the pressure. Great job keeping up with your journal! Happy Weekend! I hope you feel better.

    1. Ugh, i can’t stand it when it hits the teeth. I’m finally feeling a little better and hope you are too! Have a great weekend, Jill.

  2. Good for you for sticking with it. I’ve never kept journals, but it would be nice now to look back at things I’d written when my boys were young. You’ll be glad to have those memories documented.

    1. Thanks Carrie. I just hope I’m still doing it daily by this time next year!

  3. Good for you on the Journal. Hope we will get a recap someday.

    1. Definitely John. I think it’ll be fun to look back on a random day and post something funny or interesting that happened.

  4. Perfect! Keeping a daily journal (even if you just write about how much your head is hurting) is a priceless resource. At the very least, in later years, you’ll be so glad you jotted down those special moments with Angus 🙂 I still have a lot of my old journals (I’m an on-off journal writer) and every so often, I use them to take a trip back in time. The stuff of stories are in there too 😉

    1. So true, Marie. It’s always interesting (sometimes in a cringe-tastic way) to see the old stuff we’ve written. 🙂

  5. I feel your pain! My allergies run to swollen sinuses, headaches, and aching teeth, too. Hopefully Angus won’t have inherited yours—make sure he does play in the dirt to help his immune system work property!

    1. My wife gets allergy shots, so we’re hoping some of that worked its way into his system!

  6. Ooooohhh! Adorable! Angus has discovered Sock Monkey! So sweet.
I hope you and your wife feel better. Ugh!!! I hate sinus-related pain!!!

    1. Thank you Linda. It really is the horrible…just a constant pain throughout the day. 🙁 Oh well.
