Weekly Recap – January 17th, 2014

Goals, goals, goals for this year. A little late to be hopping on that wagon, I know, but I think there’s a saying floating around that mentions it’s better to be late than to never… be? Close enough.

Anyway, these aren’t in any specific order:

  1. Complete a couple of blog series’ that are gathering cobwebs:
    1. Techniques of the Selling Writer
    2. California Gold Rush Trip
  2. Finish Wolf’s Tail and publish it/query it.
  3. Finish The Soul Hook and publish it/query it.
  4. Write more, play less.
  5. Read more, play less.
    1. An addendum to this is to read more books by my fellow bloggers.
  6. Find more fantastic people to follow and learn from on WordPress.
  7. Revisit the 12-hour-WriteSlam idea.
  8. Consistent exercise and better eating.

Other than that, looking forward to putting my head down this weekend so I can make progress on the Wolf’s Tail rewrite.

Oh! If you haven’t heard, John Howell’s book, My GRL, is now available on Kindle.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone.

  1. Wow, it sounds as though you’ve set some high goals for yourself, good for you! I think your post on Techniques of the Selling Writer is what brought me to your blog the first time…such a great book. Enjoy your weekend, Phillip!

    1. Thank Jill. Now I just need to follow through. Listing was the easy part. 😀 Have a great weekend as well!

      1. LOL..yeah, that’s always the easy part! 🙂 Thanks, it’s a 3 day weekend for me and I’m so looking forward to it.

  2. All sounds grand, Phillip! All goals that will be fun to achieve. I very much look forward to see everything you achieve 😀

    1. Thanks Jex! I’ll be happy to achieve just a couple of ’em, but why not shoot for the stars? 🙂 Have a great weekend.

      1. I agree completely! And you too 😀

  3. Cracking list. Like your straight forward of more x and less y. All about the mindset now.

Just read your 12 hour slam email. Been thinking for a while of collaborating with someone on something, and whilst I what you are talking about is subtly different, the idea of sharing frustrations and inspirations in an intense period of time is pretty appealing, so count me in (with plenty of notice to kick the nippers out for a day). Have a feeling timezones may be an issue over here in Blighty, but if anyone else is in the UK I’d be happy to do something in parallel.

Shout if you need a spotter on your resolutions. Enjoy.

    1. Many thanks Mobe. Would love to have you along for the 12-hour-write-a-thon. I think we can get around the timezones thing by just trusting that people dedicated a certain amount of time to cranking out stories, and then posting them on a website for the rest of us to give some input.

And appreciate the spot. The offer is mutual as we can always use reinforcements. 🙂

  4. Always good to list out your goals, anytime of the year.

Good luck with it all. You’ve got a full plate! 🙂

    1. Thank you Nila. I have the same problem at buffets.. Eyes are bigger than my stomach. 😛

      Have a great weekend!

  5. Great goals. When I grow up, I want to be just like you. 🙂
I really relate to numbers 4 and 5. Sigh. Plants vs. Zombies is the bane of my existence!!!!
Wishing you well on meeting your goals.

    1. Hahaha. I think we have similar problems Linda.. but at least you’ve been published, so I have to catch up to you there. Hope your weekend is going well! 🙂

  6. Dang! Those are quite the goals. And I’m pretty sure that the entire month of January is for goal-setting so you are in the clear 😉

    1. Phew… *wipes sweat from brow*
