what are you up to, I…
In case of confusion, the ‘I’ in the title is supposed to be a Roman numeral. I thought it would be fun to start a series of posts discussing what I’ve been up to and what my readers have been up to. Your participation is appreciated!
I’ll go first:
- Music – I’ve been working intermittently on composing a score for my wife’s recently completed short film. I love doing this, but it can be pretty challenging. Trying to hit the right moods of the scene, not be too overpowering and tying everything into a overarching theme is hard work. But much like writing, when it’s ‘done’, there’s an immense feeling of satisfaction.
- Writing – I spent a couple of hours last night working on the next short story, locking myself in my office and listening to some inspiring music. I’m pretty happy with the results, especially since I worked out a major kink in my story. Now I’m on my way to a complete first draft, and I figure after another night or two, I’ll be ready to put it away for a while and come back with fresh eyes.
- Reading – My brain needed a break from the history book I’ve been reading, so I’ve recently begun downloading various free short stories to my Nook and also started on a compilation of short stories about Wizards. The free short stories are very hit-or-miss, but so far, I’m four stories into the Wizard book and they’ve all been fantastic in their own ways. Inspirational stuff!
- Watching – “April 1st is coming”.. my bit of an inside joke on an oft-repeated line in Game of Thrones. April 1st is when season two of HBO’s interpretation begins. My wife and I have begun re-watching season one, and boy, are we glad we did. Like any complex story, there is only so much you can take in on a first experience. Now that we’re a little more familiar with the families and their extended trees, we’re able to absorb a bit more of the plot and subplots.
So tell me, what are you up to?
